    pop up menu help!

    Bethbuddha
      My link and pop up menus work in the Fireworks preview, but not after importing them to my webpage in Dreamweaver : http://www.belovenow.org/index2.html
      All the behaviors and the menu lists are not showing. Any idea what's going on? I've been trying to figure this out myself all day.
      Thanks!

          Which version of Fireworks are you using? Which HTML editor are you using?

          Note that the link to your style sheet is pointing to your own hard drive:

          <link rel="stylesheet"
          href="file:///Macintosh%20HD/Dreamweaver%202/Configuration/Templates/t7/styles.css"
          type="text/css">
          <style type="text/css">

            Thank for replying! I'm in Dreamweaver8 and FireworksMX 2004 (to create the buttons). To be honest, i'm self taught and I'm embarassed to say I don't know how to create a style sheet yet and I'm not sure what an html editor is.

            I've gotten the links to work now by using the 'copy to clipboard' export options and pasting the html in Dreamweaver. But, the menus are popping up so far below the links and I'm not sure why because they work perfect in the Fireworks preview:
            http://www.belovenow.org/about.html
            http://www.belovenow.org/index2.html

            Thanks again so much for your help.

              Dreamweaver is an HTML editor.

              The first thing you need to do is define your site in Dreamweaver.

              To set up a Dreamweaver site: Select Site > Manage Sites.
              The Manage Sites dialog box appears. If you dont have any Dreamweaver
              sites defined, then the Site Definition dialog box appears and you can
              skip the next step.

              Click the New button. The Site Definition dialog box appears.

              Do one of the following: Click the Basic tab to use the Site Definition
              Wizard, which steps you through the setup process.

              Complete the Dreamweaver site setup process: For the Site Definition
              Wizard, answer the questions on each screen, then click Next to advance
              through the setup process or click Back to return to a previous screen.

              Note that because you are using different versions of Dreamweaver and
              Fireworks, they will not be able to interact with one another in the
              same way they would if you had the same versions. That said, export from
              Fireworks in this way:

              First, optimize the images in the Optimize panel. Then choose File >
              Export. In the Export dialog box:

              For Save in (at the very top of the dialog box) choose the root folder
              of your site. That's the main folder for the site that you see in
              Dreamweaver's Files panel. Next, give the file a name. Choose Export
              HTML and images. For HTML choose Export HTML File, for Slices choose
              Export slices. If you have created an assets folder for the images in
              your Dreamweaver site, click in the Put images in subfolder box and
              browse to the assets folder to select it. Finally, click on the Export
              button.

              In Dreamweaver: to import the Fireworks material onto your Dreamweaver
              page, place the cursor where you want it to go, and then choose Insert >
              Image Objects > Fireworks HTML.

              That should do it for you.

                Linda,
                I had defined my site and imported the html from Fireworks in the way you described.
                All is working well expect that the pop up menus are popping up way below the nav bar instead of attached to it. It all works fine in the Fireworks preview so I'm assuming something is happening in Dreamweaver. I've tried re-exporting and updating the fireworks html several times thinking maybe something didn't come through but It seems I've got all the html and javascript downloaded properly into the Dreamweaver page.
                I don't know..I'm stumped.
                Thanks for your replies.

                  It's probable happening because the menu is not in the same place,
                  relative to the top left corner of the page, as it is in Fireworks. Can
                  you verify that?

                    Linda,
                    That did it..thanks. What i had to do was redesign my banner so that it was one image instead of separate image parts in tables. Then I added it to the top of the page and then added the Fireworks html for the nav bar/pop up menus right next to it. If i tried to add the Fireworks into a table it wouldn't work. It had to be added directly into the page.
                    Thanks!
