Thanks for that, but I'm on Apple OSX, plus they don't actually specifiy what it is you need to change.
Which is what I actually need to know.
The top-level folder created within Documents is :
Adobe Premiere Pro Preview Files
All other folders are now being created in the new folder I have created where my project resides.
I need to know how to get the folder structure above to ALSO reside in my newly created folder.

Look under Media in your CS5 preferences.
I had looked in there, but I have revisited and manually pointed the paths to the new one.
I'll guess that's a no then ?
hmmm....I don't use mac...just pc....but I might venture that if you delete the old folders ( hard drive directories ) that USED TO BE THE DEFAULT...and then open a new project with your new choices for preferences ( folders and so on for your new projects ? ) that you would have finished the process.
Are you saying that despite that "backup " type folders for projects ( auto save etc ) are still annoying you in some default location? Are real big files being written to those folders ??? Or is is just folder names you see ??
Yes, I have tried deleting them etc, they are just re-created.
I have changed every visible path that I can.
They do begin to fill up with files, some appear to be cached clips etc
So the size could increase dramatically.
All this is besides the point.
The app is writing data to a destination that I cannot control.
This is unacceptable.
Have you customized the location of your scratch disks (project -> project settings -> scratch disks)?
Yes, as stated earlier in this thread.
All paths that can be changed in the preferences have been changed.
