Same problem here:
Win7 x64 Ultimate (German)
CS5 Trial (German)
"Einige Aktualisierungen konnten nicht installiert werden."
"Update kann nicht angewendet werden." (Update is not applicable)
No previous CS3/CS4 on the PC. Lightroom 3b2 works just fine.
Sufficient admin rights for the 6.1RC have been granted.
Which build of Photoshop CS5 is installed on the machine? Are you able to launch Photoshop CS5 on the machine?
Thanks for the feedback.
I have no access to that PC right now but it is the official trial from the Adobe website. I tried both: Photoshop CS5 Trial and Master Collection CS5 Trial.
Both CS5 installations work flawless including Camera Raw 6.0. However when I attempt to update Camera Raw to 6.1RC the update fails.
I have tried Photoshop CS5 32-bit too but it doesn't make a difference. Interestingly enough though when I install the trial on a XP Pro SP3 installation the update to CR 6.1RC is successfully completed (running on the same PC). To make sure it's not a problem with my existing Win7 installation I tried a fresh install with the latest drivers etc.etc...but the installation of the 6.1RC always fails.
Apparently I am not the only user experiencing this problem as I've found similar entries on other forums. However no solution has been found so far. I guess we just have to wait and see till the final version is available.
@Pronil: I've sent you an email but couldn't mail the media_db.db file as it's way too big. I did a little browsing in the media_db.db file but as I have no knowledge about what the entries mean I can't tell if it looks good or not.
I spent many more hours on reinstalls but the result remains the same. Is there a tool to "deep clean" the CS5 installation as I have a feeling there might be something messed up (possible reason: before I installed the German CS5 Trial I was using the English CS5 Trial (which was deinstalled before I installed the German CS5 Trial of course)). Simply deinstalling CS5 Trial the usual way still leaves plenty of stuff on the PC (registry entries etc.).
Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
For cleanup script you may like to visit www.adobe.com/go/cs5clean
Thanks Pronil! The Cleanscript did the job. Problem solved.
Same. Script did the trick. Thank you!
Be careful where you save that file. I saved it to an Update folder and it promptly refused to install. Noticing the other items in this folder, I decided to remove it from that folder and created a new folder for 6.1.
It ran fine.
