These are my choices for a new system I'm planning to build for CS4:
Intel i7 930 (processor)
6GB DDR3 1333 (RAM)
Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R (motherboard)
Western Digital WD5001AALS 500GB 32MB (OS drive)
Western Digital WD1002FAEX 1TB 64MB (render drive)
Western Digital WD1002FAEX 1TB 64MB (media drive)
Noctua NH-U12P SE2 (CPU cooler)
Gigabyte NVIDIA GeForce 9800GT fanless or HIS ATI Radeon HD4670 (graphics card).
Antec P183 (case)
Enermax Modu 87+ 500W or Corsair TX 650W or Antec Signature 650W (power supply).
Any comments are appreciated!
Just in case you decide to upgrade to CS5, and one of the nVidia cards that works with MPE, you might want to consider a bigger power supply
Look into changing the CPU cooler to the successor, the Noctua NH-D14.
Like John, I think your PSU may be somewhat meager. Especially if you plan to upgrade to CS5 with an MPE video card in the future.
Look here: eXtreme Power Supply Calculator Pro v2.5, get the pro license (it costs peanuts), enter all your components, set the System load to 100% and the capacitor aging to 30%. Then add about 10 - 15% to the calculated wattage and pay special attention to the amperage on the different rails. That will decide what PSU to get.
One of the first upgrades to your system will be to increase memory to 12 GB.
Thank you very much.
