if you're using flash 9, create a movieclip that contains a textfield. duplicate that movieclip, enable the cacheAsBitmap property of the duplicated movieclips and assign each character of your dynamic text to a separate movieclip/textfield. animate the textfields to suit your needs.
I'm using flash 8, can I still use this method?
I have just been doing more homework and have tried embedding a set of characters so as to speed things up, with some positive result but I haven't hit it with the dynamic text yet. Though I am pretty sure it's not how I'm collecting the info that is slowing things down. So i'm going to make sure no text thats animated is scaled.
Do you think this might be of comparable solution? rendering speed wise I mean
that's a typo. flash 8 is required to enable cacheAsBitmap and for most text animation should significantly improve performance.
Oh sweet, I tried making a duplicate clip of the text field MC but had no option for runtime bitmap cacheing. I am hoping to use a blend on the final render though so I will have a 'cacheasBitmap' option there, is this the same thing??
I am having better frame rates now my text isn't scaled.
Cheers for your help
you'll use something like:
