Looks like you're getting a namespace collision between flash.text.engine.TextElement and org.osmf.examples.text.TextElement. You can either remove the import of the former (if you aren't using it), or fully scope the usage of the latter, e.g.:
serialElement.addChild(new DurationElement(3, new org.osmf.examples.text.TextElement("War was Beginning.")));
The thing is that I don't have the
folder. Its not gonna be shown. Looks like it's missing. I use the latest OSMF.swc from the download page.
org.osmf.examples isn't in osmf.swc, it's a package in the ExamplePlayer sample app.
Just because of interest. Why is this feature not available through the SWC ? Will it be available in a future releases of OSMF?
For displaying currentTime (i.e. constantly updating the text) what would be lighter on CPU - older TextField (repackaged from the Examples), or newer FTE?
Exactly which feature are you referring to? Do you mean text support in OSMF? (If so, the answer is that it's fairly trivial to build this yourself, and given the variation in things like styles, fonts, etc., we probably wouldn't be able to make it flexible enough to support all use cases.)
I don't think it makes a difference to the CPU which control you use. Our TextElement is just an example that integrates with OSMF, whereas the FTE one is a full-fledged text control independent of OSMF
