Did you set up your playback options in the source monitor and program monitor to display at full resolution?
Yes I right clicked the source monitor and it says resolution is on full.....also in program monitor.. and it is for sure a far less clear picture than when I check the video in windows once I have exported from camera.
Is it something in the setup of the Premiere project?

Since nobody here can see your computer screen... just what IS your project setting?
I'm sorry for sounding so noob, but I have a cannon Fs11 camcorder than records in .MOV. What is the best format to rename these files to so that I can import them into cs5? In cs4 I was able to rename them to AVI but in cs5 it tells me there's an error when I try to import the file, so I renamed to M2V.
I can import the files but they definitely looked blured and no where near as sharp as in Wondows Media.
Can someone please help as I have a wedding to to film and edit.
I have set up the project with default DV-NTSC widescreen 48...
So can someone please tell me the setup peramiters for a proect so I can import movie files from the cannon fs11. At the moment I'm getting a better image with Windows Movie Maker! lol
I have spent all my hard earned cash on this program cs5 and I still cant even get a decent import image.....please help!
The workflow you followed is likely like this:
1. Copy the files from the camera card via USB to hard disk.
2. Open PR.
3. Import the clips from hard disk into PR.
4. Drag a clip or clips to the new item icon at the bottom of the project panel.
5. Start editing.
Are these the steps you took?
Thanks for getting back to me....yes these are the steps I took. Once imported I drag the file to the project panel to start work on it ....so is there something wrong i'm doing here?
Harm...Thanks Heaps!!! Yes I did what you suggested and now it's all good. Thanks heaps!!!!
Now why was that not easier :-)

It is a new feature in CS5, that makes life a lot easier, especially with all the different formats around.
This little icon creates a new sequence with the sequence settings correctly set for the format in use.
There are three kinds of people.
1. Those who make things happen
2. Those who watch things happen, and
3. Those who wonder what happened.
Thanks to this new feature in PR CS5 and using step 4, you will belong to the first category.
Well, I really appreciate your patience and willingness to help. By the amount of posts you have made (11000)
I am sure many others are truly grateful for you help too.
Have a great day.
