How can I avoid choppy/flickering animation with text?

I have a comp running at 29.97 fps, but I'm having a hard time avoiding choppy/flickering animation in previews and high quality renders (same fps, lossless, animation etc).

Basically, I have text keyframed across the screen, as well as a number of other objects. There's a slight flickering to the animation, almost like it's interlaced - but the footage is entirely composed of .psd file objects so I'm not sure why that would be the case... wait I do have text layers.. hmmm

I upped the comp's fps to 60, which seemed to do the trick - but now the rest of the comp has this unnatural fluidity to it... What am I missing? Is there a better way to avoid the choppy flickering?

At any rate - any suggestions are appreciated. cheers!
