That is not good news. My CS4 Web Standard is also a Student Version. I'm no longer a student.
So can I still upgrade by purchasing the Premium Upgrade.
Or is there a possibility that I can upgrade the Dreamweaver component?
Or is it also possible to install only Dreamweaver CS5 next to my CS4 package?
Thanks for assisting me
You cannot upgrade components of suites e.g. Web Standard CS4 to Dreamweaver CS5 only.
Once you're on the Suite treadmill, you can only upgrade to other suites (any other suite in the Creative Suite family - not just the suite you currently own.e.g. you can upgrade Web Standard CS4 to Master Suite CS5). Adobe loves its Suite customers.
You're obviously entitled to buy the full version of DW CS5 though, if that's all you want.
You can definitely upgrade from Web Standard CS4 to Web Premium CS5
what I could update, was from an "Adobe Web Premium CS4" to a plain "Adobe Dreamweaver CS5".
BTW, there are a lot of informations on Adobe's sites, if that's unrewarding, you can also send your question in an Adobe-contact form directly. First I would try this:
http://volumelicensing.adobe.com/DRHM/servlet/ControllerServlet?Action=DisplayProductSearc hResultsPage&SiteID=adbevlus&Locale=en_US&CallingPageID=ProductSearchResultsPage&Env=BASE& keywords=dreamweaver+cs5+upgrade&x=10&y=8
Here you can ask: http://www.adobe.com/aboutadobe/contact.html:
look for --> I need help choosing a product. --> I need help choosing an upgrade. You will find there:
To install and use an upgrade you must have a qualifying previous version installed or have its serial number.
Use our upgrade selector to find out what upgrades you can install with your current products or serial numbers.
or use this for your direct questions: --> http://www.adobe.com/products/creativesuite/upgrade/:
Comment there: Select the suite edition(s) you have --> mark: See common upgrades
Have a lovely evening, literature to try it's really enough. But I think it's worth trying!
Thanks for the info. I think, if I want the DW CS5, I will have to purchase the full version of DW CS5. Upgrading to the new Suite (Premium) is to expensive and I don't use all the components that come along.
I hope that I can install DW CS5 next to my CS4 suite cause I want to keep them both on my laptop.
Thanks again for your help
I already contacted the Adobe customer support but I fear that is going to take a while to get an answer (I know from experience), if they respond to me at all. Last time that was non support.
I think I will have to purchase the full version of DW CS5 as upgrading to the new Suite (Premium) is to expensive and I don't use all the components that come along.
I just hope that I can install DW CS5 next to the Standard Suite CS4 as I want to keep them both on my laptop.
It is just sad that Adobe leaves the Standard Suite users in cold. That is truly a shame.
Anyhow thanks for your help.
I would wait personally. A full DW CS5 license is $399 and the upgrade from Web Standard CS4 to Web Premium CS5 is $599. Personally speaking I don't have the Web Premium because imo InDesign is a better value than Flash Builder + Contribute but what you get for $200 more is well worth it. Do you need to upgrade to CS5 that badly right away?
Also have you considered looking for sales on software at 3rd party vendors like Amazon, Newegg, etc? Some credit card companies also offer cash back with these vendors and there are always legit deals around.
Good info! Indeed, maybe it is worth waiting. I don`t need the upgrade right away, there is no urge. And a good idea about the 3rd party vendors.
Many thanks for your help.
