1. Re: CS5 Web Premium has to be ran as administrator?
yeetien Jun 1, 2010 1:46 AM (in response to ilssac)I've got similar problem. Running on XP. Posted on another thread: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/649891?tstart=0
Got myself a fresh machine with only XP installed. Everything runs well until I created a new user account (administrator). CS5 programs crash whenever I open using the new account.
Called Adobe support, provided them with the serial no & company name but they couldn't support me until I found out which human name the license is registered under x(
Ian, do you have any updates or new findings so far?

2. Re: CS5 Web Premium has to be ran as administrator?
ilssac Jun 1, 2010 12:22 PM (in response to yeetien)No I do not have any updates. I have not had a chance to do much with the new workstation since last week. I've had other priorities.
I'm intrigued about your comment about creating the new user account on the machine. There was a bit of confusion and mistakes when my machine was originally delivered to me from operations. I did not have the expected administrator permissions to install new software. An operations tech came by and modified my permissions, but I wonder if how you did that may have affected how I interact with the system.
I will have to try and explore what differences exist between how I am using my current XP workstation and the new Windows 7 workstation.

yeetien Jun 2, 2010 1:57 AM (in response to ilssac)Thanks for replying
Maybe you could ask your tech to login as Administrator (the default Administrator not other user with admin rights) & see whether the programs will run.
I've reported the issue as a bug here: https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform
Hope there will be a response.

5. Re: CS5 Web Premium has to be ran as administrator?
TVFgroup Sep 1, 2010 9:40 AM (in response to ilssac)Hi there,
I have a related problem and feel a solution to the above issue might be able to help! I recently installed CS5 Master Collection onto a networked machine running Windows XP (32-bit). We generally log into our machines at work using an account without administrator rights - when needing to install software, we log in as an administrator.
I installed CS5 Master Collection whilst logged in as an administrator, without any problem. I was also able to launch the CS5 programs without any problem whilst using this administrator account.
If I then log in with my normal account (without administrator rights) and launch a CS5 program, it immediately crashes. The standard Windows 'crash' message comes up: 'Adobe Encore [for example] has encountered a problem and needs to close'.
If I launch a CS5 program 'running as' an administrator, whilst logged in with my normal (non-administrator) account, it works.
I've also tried changing the permissions/write access associated with the CS5 Master Collection folders: I logged in as an administrator, right-clicked on the CS5 folders, hit the 'Security' tab and then changed the access so that they're open to all users on the machine. Logging back in with my normal account, all of the programs still crashed immediately after launching.
I feel that I'm missing something very obvious - any help would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers,
Tom

yeetien Sep 1, 2010 10:51 PM (in response to TVFgroup)Didn't receive any update from Adobe after logging the bug.
Got myself a Win 7 64-bits. Working fine so far. Think the problem is really due to 32-bits...

kcymer77 Sep 7, 2010 5:11 AM (in response to yeetien)Hello All,
Same here guys. I work for the school and we bought volume licensing for 500 users. It runs fineif I use it as administrator, but standard user can't use it. We get error that there was problem with licensing this software. So I rang adobe support and they said, that to run the software you need to be administrator of the computer. So I suggested does it mean I have to make every pupil a computer administrator - and the bloke said YES.
This is really silly and imsposible, I think I will try to ask for refund, as software is unusable in network enviroment.

TVFgroup Sep 27, 2010 3:39 AM (in response to kcymer77)Hi all,
My problem (see above) was finally solved by the IT support in the company 'refreshing my profile' (i.e., the profile I use to log onto the networked machines, which lacks administrator privileges). I'm not exactly sure what this involved... but I can now run the software whilst logged in without administrator privileges.
I'd recommend asking IT support (if available) to look at your user profile. Three weeks of back and forth and it was fixed in 30 seconds...
Cheers,
Tom

9. Re: CS5 Web Premium has to be ran as administrator?
kcymer77 Sep 27, 2010 3:49 AM (in response to TVFgroup)I was able to solve this for my users, buy giving them full permisions for two locations:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe
and
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe
After that it works. But why should they needed in first place.
IMO adobe did not think about network setup when they created this software. You should not need admin rights to create webpages in own folder.

10. Re: CS5 Web Premium has to be ran as administrator?
joker_wild Nov 22, 2010 1:04 PM (in response to ilssac)hi,
Applying 'modify' permissions for the users to %ALLUSERS%\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe PDF was enough to make it not give a 213:11 licensing error.
It's only running Adobe Acrobat 10 (CS5), not the other adobe products. However, if memory serves me correctly, some adobe products depend on others for licensing, and one of the 'main' licensing programs was Acrobat. It stands to reason that giving 'full control' (administrative control) is too much access to a shared profile folder, as adobe (software) does not need to update the permissions on the files in %ALLUSERS%\Application Data\Adobe ..., the software only needs read/write access.
I *did not* have to grant any special access to C:\Program Files\...

11. Re: CS5 Web Premium has to be ran as administrator?
aalarco4 Apr 8, 2011 9:46 AM (in response to ilssac)I am having the same issue when trying to launch Acrobat X or CS5 Design Premium. I have checked the KB and found this article: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/896/cpsid_89617.html
It mentions that it should apply for all 213 error codes, but this did not resolve my issue. I am running Windows 7 x64. I had Adobe CS4 with Acrobat 9. Then I uninstalled CS4 and installed CS5 with Acrobat 9 as a stand-alone. Then we received Acrobat X and I uninstalled Acrobat 9 and installed Acrobat X. I was working fine for about a month and now it will not launch. I have uninstalled both CS5 and Acrobat X and run the Win CS5 Cleanup Script from Adobe. I have since reinstalled both CS5 and Acrobat X but I am still receiving the same error code.
I am an admin on the computer as this is my personal computer here at work.
