    Keeping xml files in the release build

    brian914 Level 1

      I have a project I am trying to make a release build for, but I would like to keep one of the xml files in the release, so I can later edit that without having to edit the application. After I created the release build, it no longer has the data folder that holds the xml file. The application works fine, but no xml file. What do I have to do, to keep that folder and xml file in the release build?

      I am getting my xml like this:

      <mx:Model id="appData" source="/../data/content.xml" />

      Thanks a lot for any help!!!

          Hi,

          Insteand of laoding the xml using the

          <mx:modal> or <mx:XML> tag ........... just use urlloader.........to load the xml.........and this will solve your problem and the xml file will also be there in

          the build release once u do this thing...............

          hopefully this will solve your problem and the answer to ur problem

            Generally ,  I have an assets folder /src/assets/.....  This folder contains any images , or xml files needed for runtime.  This folder also gets packaged when you build the project , just check under bin-release or bin-debug.  It allows you to keep your xml plaintext so you can edit it without having to recompile all the time.
