It is advisable to have separate locations, for scratch disk and media.
Have a look at these documents and u'l get a fair idea of optimising your windows for running ppro cs4 smoothly.
Best config is:
C: OS & Programs
E: projects, previews, etc.
So get a third disk.
Thanks so much for the suggestions. Until I get a third disc (I would get the same 500 GB Seagate unless there is a better option for projects/scratch/etc) should I set up the projects/scratch/etc on my C:drive with OS/Programs? That is what I was planning on doing, but wasn't sure if it would interfere with the OS and speed.
#7 on the Optimize Windows for Vista page suggests Adjust the size of the virtual memory paging file.
8. From the Drive list, select a hard disk that has available space equal to at least twice the amount of the installed RAM on the system. For example, if your computer has 1 GB of RAM, select a hard disk that has at least 2 GB of free space.
9. Select the Custom size: option
10. Enter an Initial Size equal to the amount of RAM installed on the system plus 12 MB (i.e. 1036 for a system with 1 GB of RAM. 1 GB = 1024 MB)
From the instructions I am unclear on which disc to apply this? I have 4 GB RAM - do I do this only on the C:drive or also on the D:media drive and E: projects/scratch disc when I install it?
