If AI8 doesn't work, maybe AI3 does. I would try that first.
do all files exhibit the same behaviour or some? I wanted to understand if there is some content specifc issue or a generic issue with all of AI8 save.
If you also have Ai8 you should first se if the files open in Ai8
I havent worked with Cinema 4D hene would not be able to try this out myself.
I do not experience this issue, but other people do experience it so I was looking into it. Unfortunately I do not have Illustrator 8.
Pretty hard to trouble shoot if it's all speculation and hearsay.
Chances are what you "heard" was user error. I've saved many a solid AI8 EPS from CS5 without issues. But, admittedly, I am not a C4D user.
i have exactly the same problem! (also if i export in AI3)
any workarounds for this issue?
I just downloaded the trial for Illy CS5 and was able to import into C4D the version 8 .ai files with no problems.
I'm running C4D 11.5 on OSX.
i have also OSX 10.6.4 and C4D 11.5 and it did download the IlluCS5 Multilang Trial again.
but there is still the error in C4D, if i wanna open the eps-file (AI8)... "not valid file-format"
which IlluCS5 Version do you have? the English Version?
CS5 is the English (North American) version.
FWIW I exported to .ai format not .eps. Not sure if that makes any difference.
ahh you are right
if i export it as a normal AI-File (Version 8) it works!!
in earlier versions of C4D, as far i know it was just possible to import EPS-Files from Illustrator.
but if it works now like this, is much better
I just upgraded from CS3 to CS5. There should be an update for this issue. I don't spend a lot of money for an upgrade just for all things are getting worse than before. The version 8 eps is a standard. Why did you change something about it? Any official reply?
