I'm surprised that by now there has not been a full implimentation of what was begun with the Smart Filters feature.
Given that After Effects has had editable, on/off switchable, heirarchy-draggable across the board filters for years, it would seem that bringing this across to Photoshop for the entire filter set and making it apply to normal, non-smart-object layers would not be that much of a big deal. Especially again given that the model is basically already there in the Layer Styles feature.
Smart Filters are the non-destructive filters in Photoshop.
We tried going the AE route, and found that on larger images, it blew chunks and the beta testers said "No <expletive> way!".
Really ? Yeah, fair enough then.
Shame tho, AE's system is fantastic.
Maybe the next paradigm shift in processing power might make it viable down the track...
Thanks for the reply Chris
We might do a little more, but we're constrained in Photoshop because we have to work on things bigger than 4K thumbnails.
