    An unusual problem..

    1Mix Radio

      A friend

made a widget for my website

      www.1mix.co.uk to display SHOUTcast information,

stream title & listener numbers. However, I have noticed

that after a while, the widget shows a number

of shows which have aired previously, not the one that is on now.

The problem seems to be browser caching, as refreshing the browser fails to clear the problem but closing, then reopening the browser does.

      Can anybody help please?

      Thanks in advance..

          Hi.

          What's happening is this.

It's a relic functionality from the old days, when a power connection to the internet

          was called: ISDN.

Each time you visit a site, the browser checks for new changes on the site. If there

are no obvious changes, the browser reloads the page from the cache.

The workaround to force a reload is to append a random generated number to the object

you wish to get reloaded like this:

          object_swf_to_load.swf?78378dhjfkskjdhf7

The same mothod can be used with whole pages

          http://www.website.eu/reloadpage.html?1234567890

Yeah..That cache can be quite annoying..

          Best regards

          Peter

Thats partly the problem, however the real issue here is that if you leave your browser open, the problem arises in that insead of updating the title, it caches it, then randomly rotates through previous tracks.

Its fine for a couple of hours..

btw how do I make this post 'unresolved' again?

              ??? randomly rotates previous tracks???

Sounds like you got some buggy timer function coding there...

Without code it's difficult to determine where the problem arises..
