"Press Enter on the main keyboard (Windows) or Return (Mac OS) to begin a new line."
from "Enter paragraph text":
"Press Enter on the main keyboard (Windows) or Return (Mac OS) to begin a new paragraph. Press Shift+Enter on the main keyboard (Windows) or Shift+Return (Mac OS) to create a soft carriage return, which begins a new line without beginning a new paragraph. "
I found this by searching for 'new line'.
Is this not working for you?
it does make a new line by pressing enter/ shift+enter, but the new line is so far down that its off the screen and thats the problem, so i need a way to bring that line up to just under the original
You can also define a text area the same way you do in Photoshop or Illustrator. Choose the text tool and then click and drag to make a box. Now type away and your type will flow. Press Return or Enter and you're in a new paragraph. Adjust font size, kerning, leading (line spacing) and paragraph spacing with the character and paragraph palette (window - panel), or by revealing the properties in the timeline by selecting your type layer and spinning down the little triangle just below the layer name.
