    SEO Opinions

      Hi All,

I'm in need of opinions regarding SEO.  I am creating 8 photography sites for the same photographer, just different genres for each site (i.e. family portraits, corporate headshots, product photography, etc).  We want to link these sites to a blog, as well.  The question is, from an SEO standpoint, is it better to have a dedicated blog for each website?  Or would it be just as good to have a single blog that was linked to from all the websites?  I know this isn't an exact science, but if you could share your feelings either way that would be great!

well.. maybe its good to have nine blog JAJA one for every thing and one for all. and all of them linked.

for all ai know, SEO works with links. the more links you have to your site, the better position you get. and remember the metanames in the head, the name of the photos, that should be with related names (you can use bridge for that) no IMG_0956 but families_001.

i dont know if t helps, but keep it in mind. and besides, you have 8 posibilities that people como to your sites and if they are surfing the web, they might be redirected to your other sides.

The more inbound links, the better. Google will look at the inbound links and increase your page ranking on the basis of relevance.

You might consider setting up professional Facebook and Twitter pages as well as blogs. Facebook and Twitter may give you exponential results as these pages gain followers. Facebook will also give you a quality score and demographics of who is following you. Please understand that a professional Facebook page is a lot different from a personal Facebook page.

1 blog linked to each site.

For best results, ensure each site contains unique content. You don't want to be penalized for duplicate content.

                  Nanci,

Sounds like you're outnumbered   Can you tell me why it might be better to have just the single blog?  And yes, we will definitely have all unique content on each of the websites.

                  Thanks so much!

I don't think multiple blogs give you any major advantage because the search engines index content from each article.

Incidentally, blogs are terribly time consuming.  You've got to be one prolific writer to keep up with just one blog much less 5 or 6 of them.  Unless your client has a huge backlog of articles or a budget to hire ghost writers to keep his/her blogs regularly updated with fresh content, I don't see any value in maintaining multiple blogs.

                    just my 2 cents,

A single blog is the way to go in my opinion...

Unless you or your client plan on hiring a large staff of writers how are they going to keep posting in all these blogs every day?

While keeping them filled with useful original content. (Which is important in SEO)

If you do go with multiple blogs, linking them together may not do any real good when in comes to SEO backlink building. Having a few great sites link back to you that have similar subject matter to your's, (While using good descriptive anchor text) is more powerful than hundreds of backlinks from unrelated new or unpopular sites. (However if any of these sites are already indexed by the search engine, it may help Google find you faster when it crawls those already indexed sites again)
