1. Re: Adobe Bridge turning off Aero mode
Noel Carboni Jun 8, 2010 5:21 PM (in response to Pussik)Your computer config is a lot like mine. I have two dual core procesors and a little older ATI card (4670), but everything else the same as you listed.
I haven't run Bridge before now, but I just did to check it:
A) It took a long time to come up - 5 seconds (e.g., by comparison to Explorer, which I greatly prefer, and which comes up in a fraction of a second).
B) It did not cause a switch to Windows 7 Basic mode.
Have you updated to the Catalyst 10.5 drivers from ATI yet? I'm running 10.5 and things seem pretty stable.

Pussik Jun 8, 2010 5:27 PM (in response to Pussik)Thx for answer
I'm on 10.3 right now.. but I don't think Catalysts made this problem. Maybe I'm wrong?
Btw, Im using CS5.

3. Re: Adobe Bridge turning off Aero mode
Noel Carboni Jun 8, 2010 5:37 PM (in response to Pussik)Any harm in trying it? I can't vouch for how it will run on the 5770 but I can say it runs great for me.
Normally I'm an "If it works don't fix it" type of guy re: video driver updates, but I had a specific problem with Catalyst 10.4 that 10.5 made better. ATI has very likely been working on their drivers at least in part to make Adobe CS5 work better.
Windows 7 pops out of Aero if something goes wrong in the video drivers, if it detects an application that's known not to work with Aero, or if the application (or shortcut) has specifically been set to "Disable Desktop Composition". Unless you've made that setting on purpose I have already shown that Windows doesn't think it should be turned off for Bridge, so that leaves the first possibility...
Go to the Start button and type Aero into the search box, and when Find and fix problems with transparency and other visual effects comes up, click it.

4. Re: Adobe Bridge turning off Aero mode
Pussik Jun 8, 2010 7:33 PM (in response to Noel Carboni)OK, I will install it later.
I had problems with aero before. This solution what you wrote "Find and fix problems with transparency and other visual effects" didn't helped. But I have to type:
net stop uxsms netstop and then net start uxsms after every boot
But now works fine since some time, except bridge.
Ps: Why in filmstrip or preview mode in Bridge I can not add stars to images? Just curious, bacause I can do it in Light table mode.
Ps2: How to slow down scrolling in bridge?

Zeno Bokor Jun 11, 2010 11:22 PM (in response to Pussik)Right+click on the Bridge.exe, select properties and check the Compatibility tab. Do you have anything selected in there? Also try going to Edit->Preferences->Advanced and select Use Software Rendering.
You should be able to add stars in those workspaces but do note that you cannot add stars by clicking beneath the thumbnails if the thumbnails themselves are too small so either enlarge the thumbnails or add your ratings from the Label menu

Pussik Jun 13, 2010 12:29 AM (in response to Pussik)I think software rendering helped.
Thanks

8. Re: Adobe Bridge turning off Aero mode
OnslowDaisy12 Aug 18, 2010 6:32 PM (in response to Zeno Bokor)Hi there,
I have a similiar problem My video card though is an Nvidia GTX260 running 2 monitors. I have the latest drivers for Win7 Ult 64bit, Latest Nvidia drivers and all patches applied. It seems to me that if I have to turn on software rendering I would lose performance. My understanding is that by doing the rendering via hardware it is a lot quicker. Is this correct? Surely there must be a problem with Bridge somewhere if this problem occurs with both Nvidia and ATI drivers? Is this a simplistic view?
Cheers
Onslow

Sir_Basemental May 5, 2011 4:32 AM (in response to OnslowDaisy12)I had a simular problem after some updates from Windows 7 64bit and Adobe CS5 Master on a system with a GTX 260, onboard nvidia and triple monitor setup.
Removing Quicktime solved the problem.
