    Problem with API (429 Error)

    M_Dem_1380

      Hello,

I want to achieve a really simple OLE automation using acrobat reader using VBA :

I try the case with Reader version 7.0, 8.0, 9.0, problem remains the same.

I try the case with Windows 2003, Windows XP SP3, Windows 7.

      I work with Office 2003.

So very, very simple case :

           - Start VB express 2008 or VBA (into office)

           - Reference the good abode library COM types : Adobe Acrobat x.x types library (also tried all others)

           - Write

Dim Var as Acrobat.app (syntax is different according tool you use but remains tool driven)

                set var  =  createobject("Acroexch.app")

and you got a 429 activeX cannot create object error

I donwloaded the SDK. Didn't find something in documentation and even sample given don't work.

I can tell you that other OLE automation server is working properly as far as I can automate thing with others providers/servers.

So I someone see a solution, it would be helpfull.

      Thanks

This OLE interface is available with Adobe Acrobat, not Adobe Reader.

            Thanks for answer.

It is still currently unclear for me what could be de difference between Adobe Acrobat and Abode Reader, but

I presume this is a money question ;-)

In any case thank you for that answer, I will further investigate.

            Regards.

PS :     In any case I would add something - regarding Adobe :

When I found the SDK, I went through links following acrobat. I never view (or missed) any mention of reader or not ;-) This is unclarity.

Maybe I missed everything even in SDK but in any case this could be more vlearly explained.

I am not that kind of beginner I see the messages on the web : go and search questions

and (.. none ... ?) answer, you will understand what I mean).

I work in a professional and structured way AND

If answer is true, I find that it should be more clear to avoid waste of time of many people that are not playing geeks.

                       Regards

Read the section 'Introduction to SDK' in the Acrobat SDK. For the use of Adobe Reader read the subsection 'Developing for Adobe Reader'.
