    previews jumping when updating

    le masurier Community Member

      Hi,

I shoot tethered and sort images by date created which brings the new image to the top of the content panel.

I then either open it in ACR and do some adjustments or paste the adjustments from a previous image if this is

appropriate. My problem is, when i update the adjustments by either method bridge will bump the image down the

content page for 10 to 20 seconds which is annoying but tolerable. The bit that really drives me nuts is that bridge

changes the preview image to the previous image. I then have to wait till the new image thumbnail returns to the top of the

content panel then I have to click on it to return it to the preview panel. This may sound petty but I have a client at my

shoulder asking me is that the new one, is that the new one. Possibly I'd grin and bear it, but occasionally it doesn't do it,

so I know it can behave I just don't know how to make it behave all the time.

I've tried compacting the cache and deleting the cache for the working folder, no help. The cache size is set to maximum.

I have 10 GB of ram in a 2.66 GHz intel Mac

      Any one have any clues??

I tried this on my Windows quad core 32 bit Vista machine, Bridge CS3.  It jumps for about 1 second.  But then I have just a handful of pictures in a test folder.  (not tethered however)

Might try doing this by copying 10 pic to a test folder and see what differece that makes when you edit an image.

              Hello Philip

David Franzen from Adobe has once written a script for previewing images

              while tethered shooting.

According to additional info some have more success then others with it and

you might also want to try using Lightroom 3 for this.

The script is downloadable from Adobe Exchange:

              http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/exchange/index.cfm?event=extensionDetail&extid=

You can also download a trial version of LR 3 from the adobe site.

I have been trying to figure this one out, as it is still a problem. Have now narrowed it down to having filters active in bridge.

If no filters are active then there is no jumping. A shame as i like to have filters on but until and if ever this is fixed I guess i'll just have to live with filters off.

                Philip.

Not a single clue what you mean with jumping previews, never experienced

                  that.

You mean jumping as the icons in the Dock from OSX when they have something

                  to tell??

Remember that first aid for Bridge is Purge cache for folder (menu

Tools/cache/purge Cahce) and if no luck restart Bridge holding down option

key and choose refresh preferences. Set prefs again to your wishes and try

                  if it works now

Also try a screenshot (or better a little movie) to show this problem and

report back with the details of the software versions for Bridge and OSX
