2. Re: Encore CS4 transcode issues
Pijetro Jun 13, 2010 11:24 AM (in response to John T Smith)Yes, i had a separate problem a while back ago, and the Roxio patch worked..
Unfortunately this is something else..
I've tried several tests...There's got to be a bug somewhere, in where the Standalone AME and Encore are not communicating 100%.
A small anomoly, in where Encore disallows me from using the "DON"T TRANSCODE" option.
I've created the .M2V files using AME's presets. There's no mystery here. The templates should be foolproof. Unfortunately, i have to be within Encore's interface of AME to be able to create the preset, and transcode correctly...
I'll look into your suggestions..There's definately something awry here...

Stan Jones Jun 13, 2010 1:39 PM (in response to Pijetro)Your ame setting shows "custom" at the top; what did you change?
In the encore project panel, the bluray transcode settings are not expanded enough to see. But that won't tell us much. Open the transcode settings and look carefully at all the settings; what is different?
The latter shouldn't matter if the ame export is okay, but maybe it will give a hint.

4. Re: Encore CS4 transcode issues
Pijetro Jun 13, 2010 1:51 PM (in response to Stan Jones)The reason it says "Custom", is because i've adjusted the bitrate to suit my Encode. This shouldn't effect anything whatsoever..It falls to within legal specs.
I've played around some more, and lost several hours....It seems that the issues are daisy chained (for which another post is in order)..Of course, the videos playback fine in PowerDVD, so the .M2V's shouldn't be a problem.
Within Encore, i've created a custome template. I'll do an overnight encode and let you know how it went.
The initial reason for doing an AME encode separately, was to batch encode, and speed up the process. It's my preferred method.
But since the "Don't Transcode" option isn't checked upon import of the .M2V files, i've gone ahead, and let Encore decide what's best for me.
I swear, Encore is great, but when things don't work out, it goes downhill pretty fast..
ie Encodes, Dynamic link, and Preview buttons...
Again, i'll bring this up in another post.

Can you select the "don't transcode" (even if not checked when imported) or is it greyed out?

6. Re: Encore CS4 transcode issues
Pijetro Jun 13, 2010 2:37 PM (in response to Stan Jones)No...
I brought in two separate test files. Already encoded.
When you right click "Transcode Settings>Transcode setting dialouge box>Quality Presets>Don't transcode and Automatic" should be available.
If Encore doesn't agree with the asset, the "Don't Transcode" option isn't available..

pgauba Jun 16, 2010 12:17 AM (in response to Pijetro)Hi,
I have seen your all the screenshots.
You might be using wrong m2v file in Encore.
In AME dialog the file name is Test_1.m2v and in Encore Project panel the file name is Test.m2v.
I have created a m2v file in AME with the settings you mentioned in your screenshot and imported the same file in Encore and Encore is showing the status as Don't transcode.
Thanks,
Pankaj Gauba

Pijetro Jun 16, 2010 2:13 PM (in response to pgauba)Thanks for your very careful eyes....
But the screenshots were done strictly for visual display, intended to show that i didn't perhaps uncheck something totally different..
The footage I used initially was different...
I re-encoded through Encore, and it went very well...Thanks...
I've moved on...

Bill Hunt Jun 19, 2010 10:55 AM (in response to Pijetro)Does your choice of bit-rate fall within the BD-specs?
Encore is seeing something that is out of spec., or so it thinks.
Just thinking here and good luck,
Hunt
