I'm very interesting to know that. I do it manually some times ago(see the video), and now I script this
Yeah, thats something I had to do before designing this program. It was too much work when you have to make 100's of files a week. Thanks for the post.
Heey im really interested in that tool!! where can I get it?? I'm having problems, either.. I was going to try microsoft infopath 2010, but that tool seems more handy.
Here is my current broken workflow:
Create xml chema for data sets and import to Excel.
Populate Excel with my data
Create data sets in Ilustrator with tags that match the Excel
Export XML from Excel
Export XML from Illustrator
Break my pencil trying to get the Excel data into the Illustrator format.
I'm looking all over the place for a solution where I can convert an Excel CSV file to an Illustrator variables compatible XML ..
This tool looks perfect ! Can you make it available ?
I had a nightmare at one time trying to convert a excel file to a .xml compatible with the variables palette. So we we designed a little program converting a .csv file to .xml based on the template provided by Illustrator. If we get enough requests, we will compile it for different platforms and make it available. Please reply if you will be interested.
I would also be interested in this. thank you.
I would also be interested in this. Illustrator's variables are so much more difficult to use than InDesign and this would make Illustrator's variable much nicer to use.
