You can try using pseudo-threading to do the sort.
Thanks for your reply, I will try it out, I wish it could help me.
Hi Thanks for your reply. But it did not work out. can any one help me on how to sort an array collection of 20,000 records with out exceeding script time out.
If I had your problem , I would rely on backend-sorting. It would be far more efficient from a user-experience perspective. Even if you were able to come in under the script execution time limit , you may end up freezing the UI and degrading the user experience by not leaving enough time slices for drawing operations.
Thank you for your reply, even i was thinking about that, but i am not sure whether it would be possible or not.
1) Can we provide filtering on Server side.( I mean middle layer either dot net or java).
2) I need to provide sorting as well as filtering on server side. because my actual record set would exceed 20,000. may reach 100,000.
3) For sorting is it possible to provide multicolumn sorting on server side.
If you are already did this, can you please eloberate how did you solve these issues.
( I cannot use Flex data management services as my back end is dotnet).
Thanks in Advance,

Can you file a bug with sample code showing this slow sorting behavior? I'm surprised that sorting only 20,000 records times out.
