Editing on a laptop, any reason NOT to use reduced resolution playback?

      I'm using a MacBook Pro w/ Core i7, 4 GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M with 512MB. Editing off of a 7200rpm 1 TB drive thru USB 2. Getting a 500 GB 7200rpm Lacie in the mail w/ FW800.

I'm not hooked up to an external monitor so I'm editing in little windows within Premiere that are about 1/6th of the entire display, which is 1680x1050.

Setting to 1/4th of the size still looks perfect. So I guess this is a no brainer and I should just always edit in this mode as I'll get improved performance? When I get my new Lacie HD and edit w/ FW800, will I notice a difference?
