    Exporting to avi, compression

    PonyAnia

Hi, I'd appreciate if somebody could tell me how to export an after effect cs4 .aep animation to avi format with compression, that would in the same time work on every windows without the use of any special outside codecs, there are multiple options in the Avi export menu which make it a bit confusing. Avi file without compression weights over 1GB which is way too much Thanks in advance!

There is no such thing. Sorry to burst your bubble, but you are looking for something that doesn't exist. Of course you could use Cinepak or MS RLE, but these CoDecs are from the stone age and simply cannot provide the visual qualaity or control nor do they guarantee proper playback. The only sensible option is WMV or H.264, which these days can be played on pretty much any Windows machine that has a properly working MediaPlayer. In the interest of maximum compatibility even on older and slower Windows machines, WMV is preferred, however, if you also need to server Mac users, H.264 is way to go.
