assign htmlText (and enable the html property of your textfield if you're using as2) or use setTextFormat() or use css. and if you need to embed fonts, you'll need to embed all the fonts you want to use.
Mmk, so it can be done? I am glad : ) So, how do I assign htmlText or use a set text format? I've been using AS3 btw.
with as3, you just assign the htmlText property of your textfield:
your_tf.htmlText = "<b>this is bold</b>. <i>this is italic</i>.";
but has a limited number of html tags it understands so i don't think you're going to get any alignment options using htmlText.
What buttons do I press in order to do that?
And if that won't give me alignment choices aswell, then what will?
css and setTextFormat.
How on earth do I use those? I've been stuck on this problem for hours
and all I want is for someone to tell me what buttons to click on and what to type into what box! If you know what I'm supposed to do then please tell me how to do it.
sometimes you can know nothing and learn nothing and you can still be helped. but sometimes not.
this is one of those not instances because i can't see your app and i don't know what buttons you're talking about.
if you want me to help you, i can help. but if you want me to do your work for you, i'll need to download your app and fix it for you. and i don't do that unless i'm hired.
Is there maybe a tutorial you could direct me to? I'm sorry I don't have a clue what you're on about. I wish I did so I could do this myself. Regarding buttons, I meant you saying for example 'Go to File > Something > Something Else' etc but its fine if you can't do that.
you can read the flash help files about adding event listeners to buttons.
Place an empty text field on the stage and give it an instance name (in the Property Inspector) of "t_field" (without the quotes). Make sure you are using Classic text if you're using CS5.
Then create a new layer called "actions" on the timeline and in the first frame of that layer, paste this code:
t_field.htmlText = "<b>BOLD</b>";
Test Movie to see the word BOLD appear in BOLD!
As for buttons - there is a "Render text as HTML" button (it looks like two opening and closing html tags <>) in the Properties Inspector. This button appears when you select a dynamic text field on the stage.
