    Animating vs. Camera Moves?

    Shpigford Level 1

I'm wondering, maybe from a "best practices" stand point...when is it best to use animation vs. camera moves.

      Take this typography piece: http://vimeo.com/3094616

When doing something like that...would you recommend just doing most (if not all) of that animation purely setting position keyframes on the text? Or would you have a camera moving/rotating/tilting/etc?

Just not sure when it's best to animate the object itself or use the camera for that.

There is no general "best practice" here. Whatever works, works. In the given example, there is no harm in moving the camera, as it stays strictly 2D and parallel to the "surface". Of course this would become much more complicated once you tilt and flip around in 3D, but per se that doesn't mean you'd only use one technique to animate... Realyl depends on the specifics of the project.
