2. Re: How to extract InMath equation into image
[Jongware] Jun 25, 2010 1:55 PM (in response to resdesign)There is no reason to believe it's even possible. Apart from MathML, there seems to be no common 'math notation' format. EPS is not a math notation; it likely only describes where all characters go, in which font, style, and size.
Any 'conversion', if possible, would need access to the equation data in the image file data itself. That can only be done in InDesign by cheating: getting the file name from a placed image, then reading the file into memory using Javascript.
(It is of course possible that InMath exposes the "contents" of an equation to the scripting model. You could ask the plugin programmers.)

RidNath Jun 25, 2010 9:46 PM (in response to [Jongware])How to convert Inmath to Mathml it is possible.
Is there any script to convert all the inmath style to mathml.

4. Re: How to extract InMath equation into image
[Jongware] Jun 27, 2010 6:51 AM (in response to RidNath)I gather it didn't occur to you to pay a visit to the InMath home page and download the InMath User Guide. I did, and it does not mention
- MathML
- Applescript
- Javascript
- .. or any other scripting language
If you open one of the sample documents in the User Guide package, you can see how InMath works: it typesets its equations using the regular commands for sizing, kerning, and baseline shifting -- exactly how I manually create equations. But if you examine the IDML files, you can see each element is tagged with private data, so you can edit the "original" formula using InMath's dialogs. This private data seems to be in a system they invented themselves, and I can see no direct relation to MathML.
It does not really mean InMath cannot do any of this (perhaps they just didn't find it necessary to mention in their guide). Again -- you could always ask the plugin programmers:
"Please don't hesitate to contact us by e-mail telling us your particular needs and requirements regarding mathematical typesetting." (from their website)

Ferdinand Schwörer Sep 7, 2010 9:19 AM (in response to [Jongware])Hi,
my company (movemen.com) developed InMath and we're about to release math tools to import/export MathML from InDesign and to import MathType equations.
Best regards,
Ferdinand Schwörer

Harbs. Sep 7, 2010 9:56 AM (in response to Ferdinand Schwörer)Hi Ferdinand,
(Nice to see you posting here!)
Is this going to integrate with InMath, or is this a separate product?

Ferdinand Schwörer Sep 7, 2010 10:12 AM (in response to Harbs.)Hi Harbs,
right, you would expect me posting on the SDK forums
We're about to release a new set of math tools within the next couple of months for CS4 and CS5.
Yes, InMath (which is our product) is the "equation editor" we integrate with.
We plan for scripting support for our math tools, too.
Take care,
Ferdinand

Yeah, but we don't see you there very much either...
I was looking forward to meeting you at the developer summit, and was disappointed when you couldn't make it.
I hope we'll have another opportunity to meet!
Good luck with this new product!
Harbs
