Noel Carboni Jun 23, 2010 8:35 PM (in response to su rex)Do you have the latest ATI drivers? 10.6 is the latest Catalyst set.
Does the problem occur if you reduce your OpenGL Advanced setting to "Basic", or turn off OpenGL entirely?

su rex Jun 25, 2010 7:36 AM (in response to Noel Carboni)The first thing I checked was that my drivers were up to date. Have tried with both OpenGL set to Basic and turned off.

Noel Carboni Jun 25, 2010 7:46 AM (in response to su rex)Keep in mind you need to SHUT DOWN Photoshop and restart it after any such configuration change, to get the change to work. The settings do not take effect immediately.

su rex Jun 25, 2010 8:13 AM (in response to Noel Carboni)Yes I do realize you need to shut down PS for preference changes to take effect. I've even shut down and restarted my computer after making preference changes, not just a restart but actually shutting down completely. I've tried different sets of images but it's all the same.

dec9 Jun 25, 2010 10:01 AM (in response to su rex)Go to this website, download and install this free driver sweeper (works great removing left over junk driver chunks that will sometimes effect how things are displayed)
http://phyxion.net/Driver-Sweeper/Driver-Sweeper/Driver-Sweeper-205-available
Redownload the driver package.
Install the driver package. However, when the window comes up with the choice to un-install or install the package choose un-install. After un-install is finished reboot but re-boot in the safe mode.
Run the driver sweeper with the ATI choice.
Reboot into normal windows.
Re-install the drivers and reboot.
See if that corrects the problem.

su rex Jun 30, 2010 1:01 PM (in response to dec9)Finally had a chance to do this. I uninstalled, wiped the drivers and re-installed, not sure if that really helped or not. I still get black portions in HDR Pro but I discovered if I move some of the sliders to their extreme then wait for a bit the picture will render clear. It only works though if I move them to the extreme, if I don't move them at all or move them just a little bit the image has black portions. Once it renders clear I can move the sliders back to where it's more realistic. I've come to the conclusion it's just how the program works, at least now I know how to get it clear so I can continue.
