Make sure your button has an instance name (let's use my_btn), and that your bubble is on the stage (let's use bubble_mc). For the textfield inside your bubble, let's use speech_txt as it's name.
Then put the following code in a frame on your main timeline.

Thats the annoying itty bitty bit done, just figured it out as you replied...
This is my complete code at the moment...I'm trying to draw text from an XML and place it in the dynamic text box 'text1' but having trouble with it...

If that is all of your code then it won't work for various reasons, so I've coded out an example that you can take a look at to get your bearings.
Another note is that, although you set the ignoreWhite to true, flash will still pick up carriage returns in your XML, so try to remove them (example below)
