Chapter 15 of the Flex 2 Developer's Guide (flex2_devguide.pdf):
Using Layout Containers
Thanks. I'll take a look.
One problem is that there are so many ways to do anything.
Rather that design an app based on Flex containers and navigators, I suggest designing the app as you dream it, then find the best components to implement that design.
I know, if you are not a designer, as I am not, this can be a difficult approach.
Are there any guidelines or user interface design best practices that have been published for flex applications? I'm looking for more of a user interface guidelines type of document.
Actually, whay you say is exactly what we do here.
1. The customers (internal in our case) specify the interface as they would like it
2. The designer creates the UI accordingly in Illustrator and Flash
3. The Flex developer in charge of the layout uses the relevant containers in order to match the design and the specified functionnalities
Katie, I see what you mean, something in this vein but for Flex:
Apple Human Interface Styleguide
Let's ask guys at Adobe and Adobe Consulting to write such a document.
