    Weird problem with remote files

Just started this morning, with everyone in my office who uses Dreamweaver CS3. We all connect through a network to our local and remote servers. Opening a file on the local server is as fast as always. Opening a file on the remote server takes three minutes. Editing and putting the file is, again, as fast as usual -- the edited and saved page appears on the remote server immediately -- but then DW takes another three minutes before allowing any more work. Sometimes it provides a white screen of death, sometimes it just locks.

      quote:

      S:/index.htm - Get operation successful
      File activity complete.
      Files updated: 1

      Finished: 8/20/2007 11:13 AM

The problem seems to be when DW refreshes the remote files inside site management. Opening a file from the remote server using File>Open works immediately. And - and this is where it gets weird - it only hangs on files in the root of the remote server. Files inside folders open and put as fast as ever, with no problems. But opening anything on the root, even textfiles that are not receiving traffic, hangs DW. No settings have been changed that we can determine. Help?
