Ok, so I know how to add a blur effect to an object in flex, but how would you take a transparent object (so lets say I can see the desktop behind it), and add a blur filter, so that whatever I drag the app over blurs the stuff behind it.

      Is this possible?

If I need to clarify let me know!

The blur filter doesn't work like that. Just as if you put a drop shadow filter on something and move it around, what's below it won't acquire a drop shadow.

You could figure out what the lens is over and set a blur on it, but you'll wind up blurring an entire object, no just parts of it.
