1. Re: How can I create gradient mesh on a compound shape? (CS3)
Monika Gause Jun 28, 2010 3:58 PM (in response to x_defect)You can only apply a mask to your mesh afterwards. Either a clipping mask or an opacity mask.

3. Re: How can I create gradient mesh on a compound shape? (CS3)
Doug Katz Jun 28, 2010 6:24 PM (in response to x_defect)But isn't the direct answer to this question that a compound path simply can't be converted to a gradient mesh? And that's why you'll need to either apply a mask in the shape of that hollowed out ellipse to an existing mesh as Monika advises, or create shapes above the compound path that conform to it as Scott suggests?
Or am I wrong? Is there in fact a way to convert a compound path to a gradient mesh?
PS. The reason you are able to apply the mesh to a crescent may be that the crescent simply isn't a compound path.

[scott] Jun 29, 2010 2:39 AM (in response to Doug Katz)You are correct, Doug. Compound shapes have never been able to contain a mesh. Its just not possible.
