video file format(s) for both Windows Media Player and ITunes

    david k

I'm new to all this, but I'm trying to find a video file format that can be played on both a PC (windows media player) and a Mac (I-tunes or I guess quick time?). I'm wanting to send out a video clip that can be viewed on both types of computers.

      thanks, David

The MOV formats (especially with CODEC's like Animation) will play fine on any PC with either QT Player, or a player like VLC (think it natively handles MOV?). Also, there are other CODEC's for MOV's and some are Mac-only, so be careful there. MPEG-2's will also play on either. AVI's even with more common CODEC's inside, can be issues on Mac's, and WMV's usually don't play, or play well.

If one wishes to Export to work with iPods, there will some Frame Size issues, but if played in a software player, that should not be a big consideration.

          Good luck,
