JainAjay Jul 1, 2010 3:14 AM (in response to txbonfire)Hello Angela,
There are no hard copy user guides in the boxes and we also stopped offering the hard copy user guides from Adobe.com, so Adobe no longer produce any hard copy user guides.

txbonfire Jul 8, 2010 2:47 PM (in response to txbonfire)After calling Adobe Customer support again (800-585-0774), I spoke with a person who is knowledgable about the hard copy manuals for the CS5 software. She said that there is currently 5 user manuals for individual programs of CS5 (Iknow for sure that Photoshop and Illustrator are available, not sure about the other 3). These books are called "Classroom in a Book" and are sold by Adobe for about $50 per book

Dov Isaacs Jul 8, 2010 2:52 PM (in response to txbonfire)Unfortunately, that person in Adobe Customer Support is not that knowledgeable. The Classroom in a Book series are not user manuals. They are training exercises. They may be good for initial learning, but they are not in-depth user manuals!

txbonfire Jul 8, 2010 3:07 PM (in response to Dov Isaacs)Dov,
Thank you so much for the qlarification. I have been using the s/w from the Adobe Production Studio Premium (CS2 stuff) for the last 4 years. I just installed the CS5 Production Premium s/w on my computer yesterday. What would you suggest for someone like me who has been working with Adobe s/w for a few years. Would the "Classroom in a Book" series be a waste of my time? Are there any other options concerning hard-copy manuals? I know that the s/w contains on-line manuals, but I prefer hard-copy.
Thanks so much,
Angela

Dov Isaacs Jul 8, 2010 8:48 PM (in response to txbonfire)I've heard mixed reviews on the Classroom in a Book series. Sometimes extracts of books are available on Amazon for you to peruse prior to deciding to purchase same.
In terms of printed manuals, follow Bob Levine's advice, download the PDF files, and then print the PDF files. You might even consider printing those manuals 2-up from Acrobat or Adobe Reader to save some paper.
