Welcome to the forum.
Adobe has a 30-day money-back guarantee. Buy the software, and if it doesn't work for you, you have 30 days to get your money back.
You can probably safely assume that CS5 handles your footage.
You need to know if your hardware also does (understandably) ...so you could maybe post up your system specs and setup for a start before going through a purchase and return routine. (Which I imagine is cumbersome)
Thanks, I agree that CS5 will handle the file format, I'm interested to evaluate performance on my maching. What do you think?
Windows Vista 64
Pentium i7 920 2.66 GHz
6 GB DDR3 RAM
300 GB WD Raptor 10K RPM
(2) 1TB WD 7.2K RPM
850W Thermaltake PS
Radeon HD 4870 X2 2 GB GDDR5 (I know, not Adobe certified for MPE)
What do you think?

You have a very good machine here, the first upgrade you may consider it going from 6 to 12 GB RAM. That has a significant impact on performance. After that you can consider additional disks and possibly a raid configuration.
I agree on the RAM (it's already been ordered). How do you think Premeire Pro will perform on it? Which RAID configuration would you suggest?
