Just started rendering some RED clips to WMV files. Task manager shows only about 35-55% usage while rendering. RAM usage is almost full 8 gigs. When I use AME from a Premiere sequence (HDV to MOV or MPEG-DVD) the Task Manager shows all 8 processors churning at almost 100% and RAM stays constant at about 50%.
Is this right or should I be able to get near 100% CPU usage out of an AE render. Did I forget to enable something?
Running CS 5 under Visat 64 bit on dual processor 4 core workstation.
Here is a post with a ton of links. Many of the links explane how AE CS5 uses less processors when you have less then 2gb of ram or so per cpu core. This makes AE cs5 render quicker.

No. WMV only uses 2 concurrent threads for encoding, which is how Microsoft has provided the stuff for ages, meaning that it simply is not in any way adapted to multicore processors. Nothing that can be changed by flipping switches inside AE, since this is out of the hands of Adobe, so you will have to live with this limitation.
