I experienced the same problems in Citrix.
We are using Adobe X and printing to an HP 4100 within Citrix. Print Driver: HP Universal Printing PCL 6 (v5.1)
The file is a simple 1 page PDF - size: 6K. Various recommendations stated we should use the Print As Image option. At that point the spool file was 1.5MB. After many attempts at changing the options we were able to get the spool file down to 247KB by NOT selecting Print As Image, setting the Raster Compression to Maximum and setting the Print Optimazations and Advanced Printing Features ENABLED.
I hope this helps.
Hi, I am using the free version of Adobe Reader 10.1. Where can I set the compression for rastorization?
"Print as image" is an Acrobat option you can always use. Other options will be dependent on the printer driver.
Print as image doubled it! It's now gone form 100Mb to 200 Mb!
Hmm, that's what I'd expect, and it's what SW3210 found. Curiously, though, SW3210 also found recommendations to turn it ON.
I'm not at all surprised to see large print files. PDF is designed to be very highly compressed. Print files are in a format invented by the printer maker, and printer makers often see no reason to keep the size down.
