to link to an external url you don't need a cross-domain policy: use getURL().1 person found this helpful
to load or execute a file from a different domain than your swf's html file you need a cross-domain policy.
this problem with the flashplayer prompt occurs when i use getURL()
getURL() works perfectly if i'm just viewing the swf through flashplayer. the problem occurs when the swf is placed into an html document and viewed through a browser.
no it doesn't. getURL() causes no security issues unless you try to open the html locally and (try to) access something on the internet.
unless your "flash site" is your local computer there is no security issue. if your local computer is an internet server, you just need to set the security settings for your local file and give it permission to access the internet zone.
oh ok, thanks for the help! i've been testing it from my computer - it's not actually online yet.
