1. Re: brush lag in PS CS5 with OpenGL - graphics card too slow?
Noel Carboni Jul 8, 2010 6:40 AM (in response to wumpe)All modern graphics cards for the past few years are fast enough to keep up. The lag issue is reported from time to time here in this forum, and I'm pretty sure that one of several things usually fixes it:
- Update of video drivers to current Photoshop CS5 supporting versions
- Complete removal and reinstallation of latest tablet drivers.
- Changes to the OpenGL settings in Photoshop Edit - Preferences - Performance.
- Change of video card model (I never see any lag whatsoever with my 2+ year old ATI Radeon HD 4670).
Hope this helps.

2. Re: brush lag in PS CS5 with OpenGL - graphics card too slow?
wumpe Jul 8, 2010 9:49 AM (in response to Noel Carboni)Thanks. I already have the newest drivers and I get the same lag with the mouse too.
I also tried the different settings in PS, the basic setting is the most responsive, but it's still very slow. So I guess the card is too slow - your card should be roughly twice as fast.

Noel Carboni Jul 8, 2010 1:30 PM (in response to wumpe)Very fast new video cards are surprisingly inexpensive. My own preference is for ATI, but many like nVidia.

wumpe Jul 9, 2010 1:11 AM (in response to Noel Carboni)Yes, I looked at some reviews and I'll get a Radeon HD5770. They have superior 3D filtering again.

5. Re: brush lag in PS CS5 with OpenGL - graphics card too slow?
singmajesty Oct 29, 2010 11:50 AM (in response to wumpe)I was just able to resolve this problem on my system by going to Edit > Preferences > Performance > Advanced Settings (for GPU) and selecting "Basic" from the list of options there
