My suggestion: uninstall Reader 9.3.x completely, then reinstall it from scratch.

There is a possibility that you cannot uninstall 9.3.x and get the same error message.  If this happens, use the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility to remove the Reader.  The utility is no longer supplied by Microsoft; use Google to find any of the dozens alternate download locations.  Let us know if you need instructions how to use the utility.

I'm curious if this would work as opposed to using the "Cleanup Utility"

Try opening a command prompt by going to Start > Run and type in "cmd" and press enter. Then enter this command:

            msiexec.exe /x {AC76BA86-7AD7-1033-7B44-A93000000001} /qb

and see if that will uninstall the application successfully.
