    Question on product key

    Tomec86 Community Member

So supposedly macs are the industry standard for video and photo editing, so I'm considering getting a mac as thats sort of the field I'm going into to. However I currently have CS5 student edition on windows, and I'm wondering if I can use that on a mac w/o having to use something to load up windows. Also, if I want to keep it so I can use it on both computers do I have to buy another key or what? I seem to remember reading something about having 2 activations of my key, but i'm not sure where I read that...

For Adobe products that support multiple (i.e., two) activations, the license id (key) is only for the platform you purchased the license for. The Creative Suite application disks and license id (keys) are platform specific.

In terms of you initial comment, in our experience, not only are Macs "industry standard for video and photo editing," but so are Windows-based systems. Adobe software works no better and have no additional features on MacOS-based systems than they do on Windows-based systems.

Thanks for the response, I had kind of figured that butit never hurts to ask.

Speaking of the standard thing... see that is what I don't really understand. If Windows is just as good, and places use PCs a lot too, then why say macs are the industry standard? Shouldn't it just be you need to at least know the OS? But everyone I've talked to has been all like "oh you need a mac at home!" or bring a mac laptop when showing things or working on things.

Nobody here said it. Given equal hardware, I'd just as soon use Windows 7 than Snow Leopard.
