I am using the multi bit-rate feature of the MediaPlayer with a DynamicStreamingResource, that points to the sample media files (bit rates 150 to 1500) included with FMS 3.5.
Its pretty cool that the MediaPlayer seems to automagically manage the strream switching with minimal code on my end.
However I noticed that even when i am streaming from my own local machine, the bit rate switching starts off at 150 and takes quite a while to get upto 1500 and then occasionally drops down to 150 for no apparent reason. So question is, what if any are the config/setting options available to tune how and when switching kicks in ?
MediaPlayer.autoSwitch determines whether or not to auto-switch.
NetStreamSwitchManager (which hangs off of NetLoader) encapsulates the logic and rules for when MBR switches occur. Each switching rule is implemented as a separate class.
Sorry, not sure how I missed this post. When you see it switching down to the lowest quality stream, it is most likely because the buffer emptied. Try setting the buffer size on the MediaPlayer class to 8 when streaming multi-bitrate content and see if that works better for you.
