I was wondering if anyone else has had problems with the Windows 7 Windows Installer (version 5.0.7600.16385) and using the /update command line switch. I am attempting to deploy Adobe Reader patches using this method. It works fine with Windows XP Windows Installer (version 3.01.4001.5512).
Quick overview. I have the AcroRead.msi that is downloaded from the Adobe website for deployment in my enterprise environment. I have rolled the 9.3.3 patch into the AcroRead.msi for new installations, however, I still have a number of computers out there with version 9.3.0, 9.3.1, or 9.3.2 of Adobe Reader. The simplest way of ensure all the machines are patched to 9.3.3 was to run the command
msiexec.exe /update <path to>\AdbeRdrUpd931.msp;<path to>\AdbeRdrUpd932.msp;<path to>\AdbeRdrUpd933.msp /qb /norestart
As mentioned before, this command works fine on Windows XP, however, on Windows 7, it fails with a 1603 fatal error.
I have posted the msi log at http://pastebin.com/tVF3sbzD
Does not look like full verbose msi log to me.
Can you please enable all logging options and post complete log somewhere?
I would prefer to download the log instead of reading it.
When running the command:
msiexec.exe /update <path to>\AdbeRdrUpd931.msp;<path to>\AdbeRdrUpd932.msp;<path to>\AdbeRdrUpd933.msp /qb /norestart /log C:\Adobe.txt
