1. Re: HELP! Premiere CS5 crashes when importing Nikon D300 avi
Bill Hunt Jul 13, 2010 8:05 AM (in response to kas)Welcome to the forum.
Can you please give us more info? This ARTICLE will give you some details on the types of info, that would be so very useful.
Correct me, if I am wrong, but I believe that the Nikon shoots AV in the MJPEG CODEC. For this footage, I recommend either the Morgan, or the MainConcept MJPEG CODEC. Do you have one of those?
Good luck,
Hunt

Harm Millaard Jul 14, 2010 3:14 AM (in response to kas)Possibly because the codec used is not 64 bit.

5. Re: HELP! Premiere CS5 crashes when importing Nikon D300 avi
kas Jul 14, 2010 8:13 AM (in response to Harm Millaard)thanks for the reply. not following you though. do I have to install a new codec than the working 64bit used for CS4? I'm surprised the codec would cause the system to crash on file import (render, yes, but import?).
I cannot unistall CS4 until CS5 is working. This is how I make my living.
Am I the only one having this error with CS5?!!

6. Re: HELP! Premiere CS5 crashes when importing Nikon D300 avi
John T Smith Jul 14, 2010 9:08 AM (in response to kas)>64bit used for CS4?
CS4 was 32bit, not 64bit
I think you will need a new codec to go with CS5
IF the codec is MJPG try...
MJPG edit with Morgan or MainConcept http://www.morgan-multimedia.com/

8. Re: HELP! Premiere CS5 crashes when importing Nikon D300 avi
Bill Hunt Aug 9, 2010 8:08 AM (in response to kas)I would check the Nikon install utility, to see if they ship a 64-bit CODEC. Might be installed with software?
Good luck,
Hunt
