Layer move and marquee moving issue

I have a large monitor setup, 30" on the left and 24" on right, pretty standard imaging workstation. I keep the tool palette in the default position, but dock the collapsed style palette to it, stretching it about 6" toward the center. I do this so every file I open opens closer to the center of my big monitor, instead of way over to the left, adjacent to the tools palette. I LOVE this workaround. Resizing windows also keeps them in this purposely off-centered box. I position several unused boxes around the monitor to give me visible access to the desktop regardless of resized windows. This behaviour also affects palettes docked to any side, the cursor freezes at the invisible edge of any palette docked to a side.

Here's the rub. In CS5, if I move a window to the left of the style palette, or use full screen mode with menubars, I am prevented from moving a selection into the area beyond the edge of the collapsed style bar. Same for moving layers. When the cursor hits that invisible barrier, no matter how high or low on the screen, it acts as though the cursor is at the edge of the window, freezing the layer or selection in place. If I let go out there, it snaps back to the original position.

You can create a marquee out in that area, and drag it out, though it wont be visible until you get past that invisible barrier. Drag it out to the center and let go and it will drop it there. But it will snap back if dropped anywhere to the left of that.

I went back to CS4 and re-enacted the action with the same setup, and it worked correctly, as designed.

I doubt many users have experienced this, as it is a little obscure, but I would hope this is rectified in some upcoming revision.

Does anyone use a workaround like this?
