Transitions come and go.

txbonfire Aug 2, 2010 3:07 PM (in response to Kita41)I did purchase the Pixelan transitions, but still miss the GPU transitions that were in APP 2.0.
Does anyone have any recommendations of other transitions that I can aquire/purchase that are similar to the APP 2.0 GPU transitions?
Or, is there anyway to download those APP 2.0 GPU transitions into APP CS5?
Thanks,
Angela

Ann Bens Aug 2, 2010 3:16 PM (in response to txbonfire)You cannot download Premiere effects.
Only way to find out is to try.
Install Pro 2 on a old machine, copy them from the plugins folder in the root.
Paste them in CS5.
I seriously doubt they will work.

txbonfire Aug 2, 2010 3:20 PM (in response to Ann Bens)Ann,
Do you have any recommendations for other transitions to purchase (comparable to the APP 2.0 GPU transitions) which will work with APP CS5?
Thanks,
Angela

Bill Hunt Aug 2, 2010 4:10 PM (in response to txbonfire)Angela,
You already have Pixelan, so look at Hollywood FX, NewBlue FX and ProDAD Adorage. Check that what you are looking at are 64-bit and will work in CS5.
Not sure how closely any will match, but by a rough estimate, that should give you about 1000 transitions, along with Pixelan.
Good luck,
Hunt

Thanks for that. I knew that many used those with PrPro, with but a few renames, and that even up to CS4, there were ways to get them to function in PrPro.
Appreciate that - scratch Hollywood FX then!

Erakon Sep 20, 2010 7:12 AM (in response to txbonfire)Hey txbonfire,
Did you find any solutions to this plugin matter? I am particularly interested in the ADBE GPU SphereTrans. Its killing me that it is not in CS5. I need to output a project in the next day or two that contains that effect.
If you have any suggestions on effects you may have found that are similar to ADBE GPU Spheretrans I would love to know.
Also if anyone else has suggestions please fire away. I like the sphere rolling up and out of frame, it works well with the content. If I can't get this effect back I don't really know what to do. Maybe a flip. I don't usually use transitions, but this video is instructional and there is a major jumpcut there we need to cover.
Thanks,
Ben

txbonfire Sep 20, 2010 7:55 AM (in response to Erakon)Ben,
I only purchased the Pixelan transitions, and have not looked into the other purchaseable transitions yet. I still need to do that. I hope that one of the transition sets mentioned contain something similar to the APP 2.0 GPU transitions. If you find anything compareable, please let me know.
Take care,
Angela

Erakon Sep 20, 2010 9:36 AM (in response to txbonfire)Angela,
I did not find a transition pack that had the transition I was looking for, but I did find a solution to my particular problem. Seeing that my cuts for this section of the video were already finished in CS4, which is where I applied the transition, ADBE GPU Spheretrans, I reinstalled CS4, and then exported that section as an MXF file. In a few moments when it is done rendering I will know that this worked.
This does not solve your problem of acquiring those effects that you have come to love and depend upon. Its rather unfortunate that Adobe would do this. and something that we should be warned about when upgrading. I guess i know for the future, but I would rather have more transition options in an upgrade than less.
Good luck to you and anyone else seeking transition effects.

UberPhily Oct 1, 2010 3:53 PM (in response to Ann Bens)Is there a reason behind a video effect (cross dissolve or fade) not working in the timeline? We are editing a project that and the editor would like to import these transitions and they drop into the timeline but have no effect when watched in what Final Cut would call the "Canvas". Please help a fella playing with CS5 who has mostly Final Cut experience!

Bill Hunt Oct 1, 2010 4:19 PM (in response to UberPhily)Welcome to the forum.
I am confused about "importing" the Effects. Are these the Effects contained in PrPro, or are these 3rd party Effects?
Also, in PrPro, Effects are functions that are added to the Clip, like Color Correction, though a few of those can be used as Transitions too. Transitions are the Fades, Dissolves, etc. PrPro can use those included in the program, and also many 3rd party Transitions too.
The Dissolve Transitions (mostly) can be applied to either one end of a Clip, or to the juncture between two Clips. These are applied by dragging from the Effects Panel>Transitions>Dissolves to the Clips in the Timeline. When applied, they should function fine.
Can you post a screen-cap of the Timeline, with the Clips and a Dissolve applied. I'd put the CTI (Current Time Indicator w/ red edit line) into that Transition, but not at the juncture of the two Clips, and also show the Program Monitor to see what effect the Transition is having, if any.
Good luck,
Hunt
