    Exported SVGs always have viewBox?

I'm relying on the presence of a viewBox attribute to do some batch processing of SVGs exported from Illustrator. (Modifying width and height attribute values is a convenient way to rescale the whole image, but only works when there's a viewBox specified.) The SVGs I've generated so far all have a viewBox, but I'm not certain that this is always the case. Is there ever a situation where Illustrator won't put a viewBox attribute on an SVG?

      Thanks for any info.
