I was experimenting with various color harmonization schemes when I noticed that my logo file--based on the Mint Julip swatch (C: 75, M: 0, Y: 100, K: 25) changes values slightly when placed in another file to (C: 82.75%, M: 19.22%, Y: 100%, K: 5.1%). I tried deleting and replacing the file, only to get the exact same results. As I only to print design to promote my web design business, I don't have a lot of experience dealing with color destined for print. If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it. I am using AI CS2.
the file you're pasting into is RGB. any CMYK number breakdowns will be changed when pasted into an RGB file, even if they look visually identical. you need to convert it to CMYK under file>document color mode
Or tick Color Mode>CMYK Color when you create the new file.
In any case make sure you have CMYK Color Mode before you copy: afterwards it is too late.
